Theodore Ernest Kapsos Sr. 9/4/1959-3/11/2026 Theodore Ernest Kapsos Sr., age 66, passed away at his home in New Iberia on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. Theodore was born on September 4, 1959 in New Iberia, he grew up between Jeanerette and Cypermort Point, La. He began a career with his father at Marine Specialties LLC where they built and repaired boats for many years. He then became a welder for the next 30 plus years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved offshore weilding and fishing. He also loved spending time with and playing jokes on his family and friends. Theodore also very much enjoyed gardening, collecting stones for polishing, collecting antique bottles and pottery, including ancient arrowheads. He also loved cooking and listening to music with family. Theodore was loved and taken away too soon. His family and friends will miss his kind heart and playful nature. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Betty Rawlins Kapsos; his daughter, Mary E. Kapsos Legnon and her husband Brent; his son, Theodore E. Kapsos Jr.; his grandchildren, Chloe E. Lancon and Olivia L. Legnon; his siblings, Mary “Missy” Kapsos and her partner Paul Cack of Kenner and Christina “Spider” Kapsos of Metairie; his nieces, Breann and Kimberlee; his adopted baby, a kitty named, "Mileaux" and numerous other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, William N. Kapsos Sr. “The Greek” of New Iberia; his mother, Melissa Ashurst Kapsos of Indian Bayou; his paternal grandparents, Theodore Kapsos and Mary Helis Kapsos of New Iberia; his maternal grandparents, Ernest Ashurst of Loreauville and Melissa Greig Ashurst of Indian Bayou; and his brother, William N. “Nicky” Kapsos Jr.
